I’ve always loved having VLC Media Player on whatever system I work on, and a while ago the creators of this great media player spoke about taking the code and making a video editing application from it.  Its been around a while, but my goodness, what a crazy thing to have the code available, and have instructions to actually build the editing app.  Not that I have tons of time to try this, but I may just have to give it a whirl sometime!
